I bought these boots because I needed some new durable boots with good traction being I live in MN where it gets icy and very slippery. Being a woman I found that if I wanted really good boots for all of my needs I would need to spend a bit of money for women size and design boots. With these they still fit me well enough (I got a size larger so I could wear a couple pair of socks too as I am a freeze baby). In women's shoe size I take anywhere from a size 7 1/2 to 8 and that measured to size 7 in mens, I got a size 8, fit a little big all around but put a pair or two of socks and your good. If you are a man I am sure you would want to stick to your size unless you want bigger or double socks.
